Celia Beauchesne

Célia Beauchesne is an artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts visuels et médiatiquesfrom Université du Québec à Montréal (2023). In 2022 and 2023, she was a nominee for the Prix Albert-Dumouchel for emerging artists. She has participated in many group exhibitions, including Première impression at Arprim, Passage à découvert at Galerie de l’UQAM, and Artch (2023). Recipient of the Arprim production grant (2023), she also collaborated with Arprim as a printing artist for the À l’affiche project. Her work on neurodiversity was featured in Espace art actuel magazine (no. 133).

Célia Beauchesne is an interdisciplinary artist currently pursuing an MFA in Print Media at Concordia University. Her practice spans a variety of mediums—including ceramics, fibres, book arts, and printmaking—rooted in material experimentation. Through a process of handmade amalgamation, each fragmented piece acts as a note in a self-reflective dialogue, exploring the tension between a craft's autonomous purpose and its complex need for inclusion. This research is documented in material journals that function as more than just records; they are tools for reflection and growth, helping her move forward with each new discovery serving as spaces for documenting motion and emotion. The objects she creates are direct extensions of this process. They capture the time, care, and reflection dedicated to understanding materials, becoming a visual language—a sensory grammar of Celia’s interactions with techniques and textures. Through each transformation, materials and methods engage freely, combining in ways that surprise and evolve in a magic and organic way.
