Collection: Espace / Perspective / Space

From June 12, 2022 to August 16, 2022

Co-curated by the gallery owner Anne Jano and artist Lisa Theriault. Artists Karine Demers, Cara Déry, Marie-Claude Drolet, Mélanie Myers, Sylvia Trotter-Ewens and Noémie Weinstein will present works discussing the theme of space from different perspectives in mediums.

Noémie Weinstein’s oil paintings reflect a vague memory that resurfaces.  Her work tries to portray an impression of unreality, an experience of disorientation in the familiar.  Similarly, Mélanie Myers' drawings play on the relationship that land art practices have with the prior landscape. Next, in her oil paintings, Sylvia Trotter Ewens creates a bridge between urbanism and nature by depicting an environment built with society’s needs in mind.  In her dense collages, Karine Demers illustrates the softness of the curved, unsegmented line, calling for lightness and calm. Cara Déry explores different ways of approaching the immensity between spaces to appropriate a place between 2D and 3D: 2,5D.  Lastly,  Marie-Claude Drolet explores avenues that are affected by daily gestures in different mediums through drawings and engravings.  All these artists mingle in space to rethink the concept of limits.
