Exhibition information

From December 7, 2022 to January 18, 2023, Jano Lapin Gallery presents Between These Places - an exhibition of the Summer/Fall 2022 artist residencies, co-curated by gallery owner Anne Jano and artist Marilyne Bissonnette. Artists Dana Edmonds, Stanley Février, Sandra Lamy and Tara Lynn MacDougall present side by side the works they created during their residency or before it.
Stanley Février's installations and sculptures explore the physical and psychological suffering caused to people by the violence of the modern world. Dana Edmonds uses oil paint to explore different forms of urban waste and the relationship between overconsumption and its effects on mental health issues. Tara Lynn MacDougall's work challenges the concept of authority through a process of textual rewriting and repositioning. It combines feminist strategies of appropriation, quotation and humor, privileging the intimate with the aesthetic conventions associated with conceptual art and ready-mades. Finally, Sandra Lamy expresses through her painting the depths of the female psyche, specifically the transformative effects of solitude and isolation on the mind.
Between These Places - Summer 2022 Artist-in-Residence Exhibition is the first exhibition devoted to the artists in residence at the Gallery since their inauguration two years ago.
