Une certaine passion pour les pigeons is part of Rêver Voler, a pictorial series inspired by the childhood dream of flying. Within the narrative of this serie, a child trains a bird to learn how to fly. Built upon the dual nature of play—as both a system of rules and constraints and as a realm of imagination and freedom—this series examines how the yearning for absolute freedom becomes intertwined with impulses of control.
Emerging from the artist's daily practice of drawing, the painted images take shape in the indistinct space between wakefulness and sleep. In Une certaine passion pour les pigeons, the sculpted bird appears both solid and fragile, frozen in a a watchful pose.
Rêver Voler (2023-2024) marks Bois’s first body of work to explore the fundamental themes of her practice: childhood play, the relationship with animals, and the boundary between naivety and control.
