Artistic Approach
Saul Sanchez is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice brings together digital media, video installation, painting, and sculpture. His work explores structures of power, language, and opacity, analyzing how these elements influence perception and communication. By combining technology with traditional techniques, he questions mechanisms of control and the hidden aspects of language and society. Sanchez’s art highlights the tensions between visibility and invisibility, pushing the boundaries of form and concept to provoke critical reflection.
Biography
Saul Sanchez (Bogotá, Colombia, 1977) has held solo exhibitions in venues such as PEANA, Monterrey; Nueveochenta Arte Contemporáneo, Bogotá; PRAXIS International, New York; Galería El Museo, Bogotá; Espacio ANEXO - Galería Espacio Mínimo, Madrid; and Arróniz Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico City. He has also been invited to present his work in venues and events such as Action Field Kodra, Municipality of Kalamaria, Thessaloniki; Aurora 2015 at the DMA Dallas Museum of Art; Luis Ángel Arango Library, Bogotá; Alliance Française, Bogotá; Provincial Center for Visual Arts, Havana; Santral, Istanbul; and the Diego Rivera House Museum, Guanajuato.
Sanchez holds an MFA from Parsons The New School of Design, New York (2016), and studied visual arts at ASAB - Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, Bogotá (2005). More recently, he completed studies in 3D animation and visual effects in Montreal (2023). He has received numerous awards, including a Fulbright Fellowship for Artists, the Young Artist Prize from the Alliance Française in Bogotá, as well as grants and awards from the Ministry of Culture in Colombia.
