Passages (The Dream State) is a natural dye work on silk that explores the bridge between the conscious and the unconscious state of mind, or the dream state. Inspired by Sigmund Freud's Theory of the Unconscious, the visual representation or motif present in Passages conveys an abstractive view of the brain activity wave as a sleeper gets to sleep stage 4, or the deep sleep level. The chosen work method of color removal followed by overdyeing aims to convey an enhanced sense of depth created by adding a superposed background layer to two layers that create a detailed result recalling the human mind's complexities.

The artwork, mounted on wood frames, provides a high art context rather than traditional textile presentation methods (wall hangings and other methods); in this light, the work format questions the institutional hierarchy between low and high art.

This artwork should be framed using UV-treated Museum type glass to preserve its initial color tones.
