A medieval dance of fools reimagined as a round of feminine-masculine-animal bodies, woven through with desire, violence, and the freedom to be otherwise.

Begun at the very end of my residency at RAVI in 2022. Based on the dance of fools, a medieval engraving seen at the Musée Wittert in Liège. The fools become madwomen, and the madwomen become feminine-masculine-animal bodies, in which every way of inhabiting a body coexists. Transparency of colours, pinkish and reddish sexes and breasts / Desire, pleasure, and violence gathered together / Evocation of organs and capillaries beneath the skin, stretch marks on the skin / Troubled psychological spaces as well / Masked heads, animal heads / Animality as potential / The importance of gathering, of accompanying one another among women, among humans and non-humans / Bonds to create and nurture with wild, natural spaces and states / Reconnecting / The importance of the unspoken, of the invisible in our relationship to others and to ourselves / Shared breath, wind in the leaves and between us. Hair and capillarity / Hair where it's not expected / The beast's fur / Freedom to be / A single red shoe on the dancing foot / Being half sexy
