The Star

acrylic on canvas

L’étoile draws from the Tarot card The Star. A woman stands in the middle of a marsh, pouring water from two vessels. The water begins to flood the landscape around her, transforming the traditional gesture of renewal into one of excess and transformation. A frog rests on each of her shoulders, while mushrooms grow from the top of her head, suggesting an intimate connection between her body and the living world. Vines climb along her toga, gradually intertwining her figure with the surrounding vegetation. The work explores themes of regeneration, fertility, transformation, and the unstable boundary between the human body and nature. By altering the familiar symbolism of The Star, the painting questions whether acts of nourishment can also become acts of disruption. The woman appears both as a source of life and as a force capable of profoundly reshaping her environment.
