Photography

In the phenomenology of the flesh, matter and plant life belong to the same continuous fabric. The body does not contemplate the world: it is entangled within it. Working through pure intuition, my body does not construct an image: it connects to the flow of reality, dissolving the boundary between self, plant, and object.

Brushing against death at age seven following a hemorrhagic shock gave me a raw experience of a body coming alive once more. Placing the amaranth behind this beehive frame realigns my gesture with the invisible will through which life persists.
From this synchronicity emerges an autonomous vitality beyond my control: the mesh coming alive at the click of the shutter, or the etymology of amaranthos, discovered only afterward: that which does not fade. Free from rational design, somatic memory and physical matter meet within the very same impulse of resurgence.
