Titled Effrayer l’hiver, this painting depicts three figures wearing ritual garments inspired by Eastern European traditions associated with pre-spring celebrations. These ceremonial costumes evoke ancestral practices intended to ward off winter and invite renewal, positioning the scene within a symbolic, cyclical relationship to nature and time.
In the foreground, a female figure appears to rise from the ground. Her hair and the flowing lines of what seems to be her dress are carried by the wind, creating a sense of movement and ascension. This upward motion suggests transformation and release, capturing a moment suspended between ritual, embodiment, and the promise of seasonal change.
