Silverfish once inhabited the artist’s studio, consuming paper and books. Though often regarded as pests, their resilience and intricate forms reveal a distinct beauty upon closer observation. To acknowledge this, the artist sculpted them in papier-mâché—their material of choice.
The sculptures employ a trompe-l’œil effect reminiscent of ceramics, prompting a reconsideration of value and material perception. Created from handmade glue, pulp, and papier-mâché paste using repurposed materials, the works reflect an interest in transformation. The insects’ extraterrestrial appearance evokes tension, yet invites closer attention and appreciation.
