Placed on a sheet of white Coroplast in the greenhouse, this abandoned wax frame found nearby initially felt inert, almost off-putting, for even when holding life, wax tends to freeze through the lens. An initial, impulsive toss of wildflowers only added chaos to chaos. Through successive photographic interventions, methodically arranging the fleabanes and milkweed blossoms into a grid, my body found its grounding. Their bright yellow centers act as focal points: the gaze no longer dwells on the dull surface, but glides from one center to another; tracing a constellation. The image captures that exact moment of eco-somatic alignment where the gesture settles, heightening and awakening through the body the geometry already embedded within the wax.
