Biography and artistic approach
Born in Mexico City, 1990, I am intrigued by translation in all its forms—whether linguistic or material. My work explores the various guises this translation assumes, shaped by the context of production and global dynamics of circulation of people and objects. My practice is rooted in a persistent questioning of the established order: the phenomenon of the accent, the use of color (how it relates to culture), linguistic variations, and the cultural complexities inherent in the visual realm. I am also fascinated by ephemeral phenomena such as rain and snow, as well as confettï and party streamers, seeking to capture their fall in every possible manner: from archives, to weavings, to unexpected um lauts in ordinary words. I work across diverse media, including long-term research projects, performance, photography, artist’s books, installation, printmaking, video, and textiles.
